NC DENR Division of Air Quality Announces Public Hearing on State's Incorporation of EPA Rules for Medical Waste Incinerators
Public hearing on September 7th to receive comments on amendments to 15A NCAC 2D .1206 to reflect new emission guidance from USEPA.
Additionally, the Environmental Management Commission requests written public comments to include a discussion related to the selection of a Rule compliance date option.
Option 1 is October 6, 2012. Option 2 sets the Rule compliance date as October 6, 2014.The hearing record will remain open until October 15, 2010.

Incinerator Groups Eye Lawsuit In Bid To Revive Key Air Toxics Exemption
"Incinerator industry groups are urging a federal appeals court to revive an
EPA exemption from air toxics rules for emissions during startup, shutdown
and malfunction (SSM) periods for medical waste combustion units, saying a
2008 ruling vacating the SSM exemption for other sectors should not apply to
the waste incinerators."
